Galbi Tang with a Tub of Ggagdugi

from Samwon Garden [takeout]

at home

-Oksu, Seoul-

Whereas my personal homecoming prandial protocol following a trip abroad previously comprised but a single bowl of MNM (see most recently 4.308 Mul Naeng Myeon), I've decided to expand the ritual with a bowl of galbi tang.  The first, cool and austere, to refresh the soul; the second, warm and hearty, to replenish the soul.

Although I've often had MNM and galbi tang together at Samwon Garden, two of my favorite dishes at  one of my favorite restaurants, the combination yesterday evening was particularly powerful within the restorative context.

We got more galbi tang to go, which we ate for brunch this morning and again for dinner this evening.  Not as good as it is the day of (see for example 4.038 Galbi Tang), but still the best in the city, maybe in the world--seriously.

In fact, the only place on earth that I know capable of doing both dishes this well is Samwon Garden, so you'll know where to find me.

As an added bonus, Samwon Garden's ggagdugi is also excellent, maybe the best in the world--seriously.

When we requested a lot of ggagdugi with our takeout order, they gave us this tub, the same tub used for the galbi tang.  Generally enough to last a couple weeks, probably a couple days in our home.

Great food and great service, consistently, dine in or to go, that's why we love Samwon Garden (despite the high prices).
