Try Every Restaurant in Robinsons Place (TERRP). In Manila through mid-April, living above Robinsons Place, I'm going to attempt eating my way through the mall.  As far as I know, nobody has ever done anything like this, so this could be my unique contribution to the food/blog scene of Manila. Given time constraints, I'll aim for the 37 establishments (currently--down from the initial 40) on the first floor, whenever possible, working my way up.

This is the 31st restaurant in the series, the 28th from the 1st floor.  Padre Faure Wing.

Previously covered restaurants (for installments 01-10, see post 11(1.11) below; for installments 11-20, see post 21(1.18) below):

- 11(1.11) Feb 5 / Wendy's (American) (see 5.031 Baconator Mushroom Melt) / 1.0 / $

- 21(1.18) Feb 24 / Ya Kun Kaya Toast (Singaporean) (see 5.050 Chicken Sa Po Fan...) / 2.0 / $
- 22(1.19) Feb 25 / Mangan (Filipino) (see 5.051 Inihaw na Bangus) / 1.0 / $$
- 23(1.20) Feb 26 / Pepper Lunch (Japanese) (see 5.052 Chicken Pepper Rice) / 2.5 / $$
- 24(1.21) Mar 1 / Burger King (American) (see 5.055 3-Meat Whopper) / 1.5 / $
- 25(1.22) Mar 3 / CafeFrance (Western) (see 5.057 Hefty Fish & Potato Wedges) (English) / 0.5 / $$
- 26(1.23) Mar 4 / Goldilocks (Filipino) (see 5.058 Bopis) / 1.0 / $
- 27(1.24) Mar 6 / Robinsons Supermarket - Asian Bites (Japanese) (see 5.060 Mison Ramen) / 3.0 / $
- 28(1.25) Mar 7 / Pizza Hut (American) (see 5.061 Sausage & Mushroom Pizza) / 1.0 / $
- 29(1.26) Mar 10 / Red Ribbon (Filipino) (see 5.064 Salisbury Steak Meal) (American) / 2.0 / $
- 30(1.27) Mar 12 / Yasu (Japanese) (see 5.066 Oyakodon) / 2.5 / $

Being immensely popular among the locals, customers are lined up at all hours of the day.

Judging by the map above, it appears to be the biggest restaurant by floor space in the mall.

At long last, I finally got a chance to sit down and have a meal at Jollibee, where I've previously had takeout (see 5.027 2-Piece Chickenjoy) and delivery (see 4.262 1-Piece Chickenjoy Meal + Pancit Palabok).  Given those two prior less-than-impressive experiences, I wasn't looking forward to this meal.

Dirt cheap, most sets under 100 pesos.

Those white bags on the 3rd level contain rice, not burgers--Filipinos eat more rice than any other culture that I've ever encountered; the trays on the 1st level contain fried chicken--Filipinos eat more fried chicken than any other culture that I've ever encountered.

The food was exactly as mediocre as I'd anticipated.  The garlic bangus started out okay with crispy crust in a adobo-like soy-based sauce, but the flesh itself, closer to the skin on the bottom, got kinda fishy (I'm told that marinated bangus, typically in vinegar, doesn't have this problem, because it's the national fish, I'll give it one more shot).   Other than the upcoming fastfood fried chicken taste test that will force me to come back to Jollibee one more time, I doubt that I'll ever return of my own volation.

The raw tomato was pretty good.

Burger Steak Meal (1.5)--similar to the Salisbury Steak at Red Ribbon next door (see generally 5.064 Salisbury Steak Meal), but marginally inferior as a set without the veggies and potatoes.

Yum (2.0)--like a McDonald's Hamburger with sweetened pink Big Mac sauce.
